Allergy Awareness

St. John Chrysostom School is an allergen safe school as we have students who are susceptible to severe anaphylactic reactions which could be life threatening.

Please do not bring any foods that contain or may contain  any nuts or traces of nuts.   In addition to nuts, there may be specific allergies in your child’s classroom (e.g. dairy, eggs, fish).  If this is the case,  your child’s teacher will be sending a letter home and/or posting this class allergy letter to their VLE Google Classroom.  Please do not bring foods that contain those allergens listed in your classroom allergy letter.  If any of the named food items are ingested, the allergic reaction could be fatal within minutes. Just touching a surface that has come in contact with any of the allergens listed above can also trigger a severe allergic reaction.

Kindly remind your child not to share their snacks and lunch with other children.  Please accept our appreciation for your understanding and for everything you do to help keep our classroom a healthy and safe environment for all our students.

Parents of child/ren with a severe allergy will need to provide the school with:

– a completed copy of form S15 and S15(a) within the first week of school;

– an up to date application of the EpiPen, to be stored in the office, and clearly marked with the student’s name and known allergen;

– provide the school with one up to date application of the EpiPen to be carried by the student in a fanny pack, marked with the student’s name and known allergen.  The student is encouraged to wear a MEDIC ALERT BRACELET at all times.

Thank you for helping to keep St. John Chrysostom Allergy Aware and Nut-Safe by providing snacks and lunches for your child that do not contain any traces of nuts or nut products and that are made in a nut free facility.
